Patchwork and Paper: Foundation Piecing
 Date: Saturday, June 26; 9am to 4pm
 Teacher: Sharon Ledbetter, quilter — experienced and award-winning
 $35 plus materials

A one-day class exploring the possibilities of paper piecing.  Using a
pattern by Carol Doak, students will implement techniques to simplify paper
piecing.  Sharon will lead you through a simple step-by-step project to
produce exquisite results.  Join us in a day of fun.  This project is easy
for the beginning quilter and can be expanded to produce beautiful results for
the intermediate and advanced sewers.  Dare to explore! When you register,
equipment and material lists will be sent to you via email or snail mail.

A Quilt for all Seasons & Every Level: Explore a New Design
 Date: Saturday-Sunday, July 31-August 1; 9am-4pm both days
 Teacher: Sharon Ledbetter, quilter– experienced and award-winning
 $70 plus materials

Sharon has designed a pattern for all levels of sewers, from the beginner to
the advanced.  You will learn how to measure, use your tools properly, cut
and stitch a quilt top.  This pattern can be made for any season or
holiday.  You will learn how to chain piece, how to machine appliqué and how
to incorporate a proper border.  She will share many “tricks of the trade” to
make your sewing experience enjoyable.  Join Sharon at Flora School for two
days of fun and exploration! Upon registration you will be sent an equipment
and materials list of items to bring. We will also send camping, lodging and
potluck information for those wanting to stay over. (Sewing machines available

Bending Metal I: in the Beginning
 Date: Saturday, June 26, 2010; 9am to 4pm
 Teacher: Bob Gilmore, blacksmith and EOU staff member
 $45 includes all materials, ages 13 on up  

Bob gives you the information that he wished he had in the beginning. Learn
all the basics: build the right fire, make the coke, tend your fire,
difference in irons and learn to make the basic forging tools. Bring sack
lunch, forge if you have one, blacksmith hammer or regular hammer, anvil if
you have one and pencil for note taking.

Bending Metal II: One Step Up the Wrought Iron Ladder
 Date: Saturday-Sunday, July 31-August 1; 9am-4pm each day
 Teacher: Bob Gilmore, blacksmith and EOU staff member
 $90 includes all materials

Bob will add to the information and skills built in the first class. The extra
day gives time for refining processes and techniques, and even corrections as
to techniques. Bring forge, blacksmith tools, anvil, metals, pencil and sack
lunch for each day. Let us know what tools, etc you are bringing via email or
phone call. If you have not had BM-I, but have some experience, please call
Bob for an OK to register. For information on camping, lodging facilities,
potluck meals and aforementioned, please call 541.828.7010. Pre-registration
is not required, but would be appreciated.  

Quilting on your “Short-Arm” Sewing Machine
 Date: Saturday, September 18; 9am to 4pm
 Teacher: Sandy Berg from Raspberry Bramble Designs (a new pattern company),
quilter– experienced and award-winning
 $35 plus materials

Learn about a walking foot, quilting foot, needles, threads, markers, battings
and more.  Create a small sample project using straight-line quilting,
continuous line quilting, stippling and other free motion quilt techniques.
You’ll gain the knowledge you need to start quilting your own projects at
home, using just your regular sewing machine.  Materials and equipment list
sent when you register. (Working to fill out the time with a long-arm quilter,
enabling you to do both machine types in one day. Also, hand-quilting via
several methods will be offered next year.)
